Mike Carano Teacher of Excellence Award

The IPC Education Foundation has established the “Michael Carano Teacher of Excellence Award” to support the professional development for secondary and post-secondary teachers, instructors and educators pursuing training related to the electronics industry. The award includes a $1,000 award prize and a one-year membership pass to IPC EDGE, IPC’s on-line learning platform.

The Award recognizes the extraordinary contributions that Michael V. Carano has made to IPC and the electronics industry. As a long-standing IPC volunteer, Carano has served on 16 IPC committees and is a recipient of the IPC Hall of Fame Award – one IPC’s highest level of volunteer recognition. A published and prolific writer, Carano has written more than 150 technical articles and has presented numerous papers throughout the world. Carano is a frequent lecturer at IPC events and has consistently been rated as one of IPC’s best instructors.

Michael Carano currently serves as the Vice President of Technology & Business Development at RBP Chemical Technology, Inc. where he directs the global business development and advanced research and development RBP’s electronics, mining and medical chemicals businesses. This includes materials and processes for PCB, semicon­ductor, photovoltaic and functional/decorative coatings.

Eligibility Requirements:

In order to apply for an Educator Grant, applicants need to meet the following criteria:

  • Perform the role of a teacher, tutor or instructor at an accredited learning institution
  • Is actively involved in the mission of the IPC Education Foundation
  • Serve as an IPC Student Chapter Faculty Advisor and/or Academic Instructor (preferred)
  • Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the electronics manufacturing industry such as, but not limited to, engineering, electronics, science, technology
  • Serve high school or college students
  • Be in good standing with the Department of Education
